uBRDO Voted 2nd! 2009 Best of Western Washington
The 2009 Evening magazine Best of Western Washington has come and gone and we are thrilled to say THANK YOU for voting us 2nd! It is pretty thrilling to know you guys and gals out there like what we’re doing, and at the same time unbelievable that in our second year we are already rubbing elbows with the big guys!
We have a long way to go, but are glad you like where we’re headed… THANKS!
Lusty, functional and attainable by mortals: A story of Challenge, Paul Components, Swiss Stop, and Edge Composites!
A TON of killer stuff rolled through the door last week and we thought we’d tempt you, our loyal and loving friends, with some glimpses of the goodness…

Challenge Griffo Tubulars and Clinchers are back in stock. If you are ready for the sickness in handmade cyclocross tires, here it is. If gum walls aren’t your speed, we also stock Michelin Mud 2’s and Vittoria cx tires… (and don’t forget, through December you get a free tube of glue with tubular purchases!).

Paul Components is a small company in Chico California making some beautiful bits and pieces (their cantilever brakes are unparalleled). We just got in their Touring Canti’s, Melvin chain tensioners, and a small stock of their new Chain Keepers. Also is 1 of 2 Flatbed Racks they had in stock. This front mounting rack is perfectly sized to hold a case of beer, and will do it in style with wood slats!

Swiss Stop brake pads are fully back in stock. These are the best brake pads we have dealt with and keep a full stock on hand including pads for Shimano, Campagnolo, and SRAM brakes, Carbon and Aluminum, linear pull and cantilever and even Shimano and Avid disc brake pads.

Edge Carbon Wheels have been flying out the door and we just thought we might as well put some of the sexxiness on the internets. We have been primarily building these with Chris King Hubs and DT Revolution Spokes. Road, ‘Cross and Mountain wheels in tubulars or clinchers (their handlebars and forks are also getting top ratings from our customers as well!). Give us a shout and we’ll get a quote worked out!
Interbike 2009… let the madness ensue..
James and I are headed to Interbike bright and early Tuesday morning and we’ll be back on Friday. We will be posting pics, video and whatever else we mistake for appropriate as we stumble down the aisles of the greatest bike show on earth.
The shop will be closed Tuesday (which is normal for our summer hours), but will also be closed Wednesday. We will have the store opened Thursday and Friday though!
We will also be trying to hit CrossVegas, the Mandalay Bay Criterium, the Rapha Soiree and more… so check back (and, as I say in advance every year: i AM TRULY SORRY for anything that ends up on here between the hours of 6:00pm and 7:00am).
A vote for uBRDO is a vote for freedom!
That’s right.. it’s time for the Evening Magazine Best of Western Washington! Last year we had only been open a few months and you, our loving and loyal friends and fans, voted us THIRD! I was so stoked that you guys like what we’re doing!
Well we get a lot of great feedback in the store and we’d love to be in the top five again this year! Pop on over via the link below or off the front page of our site and tell the world you love the madness that is uBRDO!
Y’all like sugar?
We love sugar (particularly when packaged in cold hops laden packages or chocolatey goodness)! But we don’t love sugar when we’re out riding or playing! Which is why we are such huge fans of Hammer Nutrition. They simply make the healthiest, most specific and easily digestable trail food products we have found. Their products are all free from any refined sugars which make them easy on the stomach, quickly digestable, and free from the typical yoyo ups and down you get with other heavily sweetened gels and bloks. Their flavours are mild so you don’t gag when you’re killing it up a hill or in the heat of the day.
We’ve got some fun stuff going on this weekend including the STP (Seattle to Portland), Redmond Derby Days, and the Cascade Creampuff down in Oakridge, OR. If you have any plans this weekend that involve pedaling, running, walking, yelling, climbing or paddling (or any combination of the above) we have a full compliment of Hammer Nutrition products to fuel your fun!
We stock all flavours of Gel, and Heed sports drink, Perpetuem in the much sought after Cafe Latte and Vanilla flavours, Recoverite in both Mild Citrus and Subtle Strawberry, Whey in both Chai and Vanilla flavours and loads of Endurolytes! It’s a veritable feast of clean burning, no-refined-sugars, long chain carb. proportions!
And because we love you guys, mention the Blog of Delights through Friday the 17th, and get 10% off any Hammer products you pick up!
King Cage has landed!
King Cage is a one man operation out of Durango, Colorado making some sweet bottle cages out of stainless steel and titanium. Doubtless you’ve seen his Iris Cage somewhere, now you can pick one up yourself!
Stainless standard and Iris cages in stock at $16, and Ti standard cages that are impossibly light for $60! All hand made in the Rockies, how can you say no?
Lynskey Hotness this week!
Lynskey is running a killer little special on their R430 Road Frames THIS WEEK ONLY… so if you’re thinking it’s time for a hot new Ti Road bike, you’re right. You’ll save over $1350 with free brushed-finish upgrade and (of course) free shipping.
New Summer Hours are coming!
We are officially in summer and we thought to commemorate we’d throw some new hours your way.
Starting the first week of July, uBRDO will be closed on Tuesdays (except by appointment), and will now be open Saturdays from 12:00 noon to 10:00pm!
We’re sorry for the inconvenience being closed 1 day a week may bring, but as far as we can tell it will be pretty small (we don’t see a lot of you on Tuesday)… we really need a dedicated day for admin and cleaning etc. We will, of course, take appointments for fits and personal shopping days on Tuesdays though… just give us a call to set up an appointment.
This also means an impending Tuesday evening group ride in the dirt is in order. We’ll get more info about that up in short order so stay tuned!
