uBRDO Voted 2nd! 2009 Best of Western Washington
The 2009 Evening magazine Best of Western Washington has come and gone and we are thrilled to say THANK YOU for voting us 2nd! It is pretty thrilling to know you guys and gals out there like what we’re doing, and at the same time unbelievable that in our second year we are already rubbing elbows with the big guys!
We have a long way to go, but are glad you like where we’re headed… THANKS!
AMGEN Tour of California
The Amgen Tour of California route and dates for 2010 are officially announced (in case you haven’t been flooded by twitter posts about it all morning). Looks to be another great race… anybody want to go for a few days?
Interbike 2009… let the madness ensue..
James and I are headed to Interbike bright and early Tuesday morning and we’ll be back on Friday. We will be posting pics, video and whatever else we mistake for appropriate as we stumble down the aisles of the greatest bike show on earth.
The shop will be closed Tuesday (which is normal for our summer hours), but will also be closed Wednesday. We will have the store opened Thursday and Friday though!
We will also be trying to hit CrossVegas, the Mandalay Bay Criterium, the Rapha Soiree and more… so check back (and, as I say in advance every year: i AM TRULY SORRY for anything that ends up on here between the hours of 6:00pm and 7:00am).
SANDY at WORLDS!
I just got off the phone with Sandy down in Australllia (who is understandably) REALLY excited! She just finished up at the Gold Coast Sprint AG Triathlon World Championships in Australia and had a fantastic day!
The splits break down to: 9th out of the water, the 4th fastest bike time (that’s our girl!!), and 13th by the end of the run… Her transitions were amazing too: she had the fastest T1, and 5th out of T2…
Sandy you are awesome!
Sandy off to ITU Triathlon Worlds

Sandy off to Australia
Our own Sandy Lawrence is in Australia as we speak for the ITU Triathlon Worlds! Sandy has been focused on worlds for the past year and she qualified in Laguna Beach, CA this last month. She returned to the PNW, put a racing disk wheel on her bike and tore the legs off her competitors at Sammamish with the second fastest ladies bike split overall and first in her age group by 8 minutes!
uBRDO is super excited for Sandy and wish her all the best! (and thanks for the ice-cream cakes!)
A vote for uBRDO is a vote for freedom!
That’s right.. it’s time for the Evening Magazine Best of Western Washington! Last year we had only been open a few months and you, our loving and loyal friends and fans, voted us THIRD! I was so stoked that you guys like what we’re doing!
Well we get a lot of great feedback in the store and we’d love to be in the top five again this year! Pop on over via the link below or off the front page of our site and tell the world you love the madness that is uBRDO!

Summer Solstice on Washington Pass
We were excited to spend the day on Washington Pass on the North Cascades Highway supporting the Native Planet Classic and it didn’t disappoint! The day started with clouds and light rain on the west side of the Cascades but got progressively warmer and nicer. In true mountain-weather style, jackets were on-and-off all afternoon. The ride started on the east side in Winthrop so everyone riding up the pass was caught of guard by the cool temps and mountain weather. Gloves and jacket were the order of the day for screaming cold descents!
Sun breaks and glimpses of the Cascades immediately around us and Liberty Bell directly above our support stop kept everyone’s eyes pointed upwards and some beautiful bikes kept bringing our eyes back down (including a full Campy Banana Boy I was pretty smitten with and a beautiful older Merlin (pre-ABG manufacture by the guys now at Seven Cycles). There were no major bike malfunctions and we are happy most of you didn’t actually need us!
Native Planet put on a killer event and the support stops were well stocked… definitely a ride we’d recommend for everyone next year!
We’ve got more pics up on the flickr. Check them out here…
