HEY TEX! WE GOT US SOME NEW SUMMER HOURS!

The days are getting long and we want to make sure you can get out and make the most of them... and we have to admit, we want to enjoy them too... so we've come up with a new schedule that will hopefully work for everyone:

SUMMER HOURS:
MON-THUFRI-SATSUN
12-8 9-8 12-5

Of course we like suggestions way better than rules. We'll most likely be around much of the time that we're 'closed' (there's always more stuff to do than time to do it) so don't hesitate to stop by or call. And if it's an irresistible un-Seattle-like sunny day don't be surprised if we give ourselves an as-of-yet unheard-of Croatian holiday. After all, you should be outside too!

NEW TOYS FOR GOOD BOYS AND GIRLS

The fun stuff continues to roll through the door! We have carbon framesets from Portland-based Veloforma now in the store including their Cross, Crono and Ultra framesets. Their high modulus carbon provides incredible lightness, without sacrificing stiffness or frame strength. We recieived a couple re-finished demo frames as well... an incredible deal to be had!

15% off Hammer Nutrition
15% off DEUTER packs

SPRING CLOTHING

We've got some killer spring clothing on the racks from both LOLE and Horny Toad, including men's and women's casual outdoor wear, and some more technical bike and outdoor clothing from Swobo and Outdoor Research...

'Tis true the bus we planned to Whistler for opening weekend got postponed due to snow... we are still working on an alternate plan so keep yer' britches on! and keep checking the site for updates! We're thinking of potential for trips to PA, Silver Star, and Whistler this summer...

GEEKNESS GALORE!

We have some killer updates coming to the uBRDO.com in the next week or so! We will be rolling out a full parts catalog for your perusal and purchasing within days... imagine a future where you can special order any parts you need straight from the comfort of your own home! Well Nancy, that future is here!

WELCOME FELLOW LOVERS OF THE SUN!

May 16th marked our 3-month anniversary and it has been incredible!

Thanks to everyone who has come by or sent friends our way. Regulars and referrals are the heart of a healthy business (we supply the blood, you keep it flowing!). We're working hard to grow our inventory and keep it fresh, with new products trickling in all the time. You should be seeing more bikes on the floor soon; we're scheming up some cool-guy utility bikes for cruising the town, plus a range of hand-picked bikes from some of our favorite small brands - from road to mountain, from geared to singles and fixies! Stay tuned or stop by for the latest and greatest...

The support for what we are trying to do here has been overwhelming, and in particular we have to thank some of our peeps who have shared their time and labor and who have supported our crazy ideas: Sandy (the IceCream Cake Queen), Mom and ElMitcherino, Craiger, Nickolaski, KCMasterpiece, Tomdotcom, MercieB and the MODUS crew, Bobbi and Mike, CFox, Mr. Sherwood, Cindy, AnnieJ, Eric, and our Special Forces out there spreadin' the good word. Our shop is about community, and the community is you!!

YOU'RE INVITED!

Saturday May 31st

Now that we're up and rolling we thought it was finally time for a Grand Opening celebration! Join us on the evening of Saturday May 31st (from 7pm but we'll be here all day of course!) for some food and bevvies, and possibly the most random assembling of people you've ever seen. We will also be giving away a few surprises from our magic hat of gear goodness including a couple of pretty swanky pieces from LOLE and Outdoor Research...

7 Hills... 1300 Bikes!

This year's 7 Hills of Kirkland ride had a great turnout of both locals and visitors.

uBRDO at 7Hills of Kirkland Pic

Thanks to everyone who came by our tent to say hi! It was great to see a lot of familiar faces and to meet some new ones! Thanks also to everyone who worked so hard to put on this killer event, to Deuter for providing some goodies, and to Hammer Nutrition for the samples that doubtless kept many bodies happy during the ride. We saw some real creativity at the first food stop with riders mixing Hammer Gel flavors into combos like orange/banana and chocolate/espresso/raspberry/vanilla, or loading gel onto whatever was in their hands, from chunks of banana and apple to orange peels to peanut-buttered bagels. Some sloppy samples were even licked off the sides of water bottles or t-shirts. Glad we're not the ones doing your laundry! Don't forget if you like what you tried, all Hammer Nutrition products and Deuter packs, bags and accessories are 15% off this week... and if your bike ran like a dream after a stop at our tent, there's plenty more service where that came from!

annnnd the winner is...

Giro Pneumo Helmet

If you stopped by our tent at the 7 Hills we had a sign-up sheet for a free raffle...

Congratulations to EVA LASLOP, winner of our GIRO Pneumo Helmet giveaway! May your noggin see many happy miles!!

Another Man's Treasure

Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses of freewheels and chains,
The wretched refuse of tubes and cogs galore.

arrrgghhh Mitch!

Parody-ified by Mitch the Rambling Poet

Not like the brazen giant of Geek fame,
With wobbling wheels a-spin from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty place with a neon sign, whose aim
Is to bring you the goods, and her name
Mother of Bike Shops. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her wild eyes command
A sweet collection of pedals, wheels and frames.
"Keep, friends, your broken parts!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses of freewheels and chains,
The wretched refuse of tubes and cogs galore.
Send these, the homeless, used parts to me,
To be turned into bags, gifts and more!"

That's right, we're recycling bike parts! Don't throw away your chains, cogs, freewheels or tubes - bring them to us, and we'll give them to Alchemy Goods and Resource Revival to be turned into messenger bags, wallets, picture frames, bottle openers, or whatever else those creative folks come up with next!
